Hand made in the 1830's during the American Empire period, a striking secretary desk has Gothic arches with wavy glass panes in the upper bookcase.
Flame grain mahogany, the wonderful old finish has warm antique patina and just enough wear, shrinkage separations and mars for character, see photos of warped lower door as well.
Bookshelves are adjustable. The writing surface opens and has a natural saddle leather insert. A wide drawer is hand dovetailed and chamfered on this East Coast furniture. The bookcase is separate for easier moving.
Measurements of this historic desk are 43" wide, 18" deep and 75" tall. The writing desk slopes up from 28" high at the front, inside are inkwells and a pen compartment.
