Sheraton or Federal Mahogany Ladies Desk with Inlay

This lovely mahogany desk has inlaid banding and shell motif marquetry. It is made of beautiful mahogany, inset with satinwood banding and inlaid shell motifs. Inside the left door are cubbyholes for filing papers. The finish is in excellent condition in a deep warm reddish brown. The drawers have dove tailed solid hardwood sides, and the brass hardware is original. The reeded legs are elegant and there is a slight but very stable crack in the right hand leg - see photos. This desk is solid and sturdy, built in the 1920's, and is 30" wide by 20" deep, the surface is 29" tall, and overall 43 3/4" tall.
