Original Price: $2,250.00

A rustic hand painted pine tall case or grandfather farmhouse clock is signed from Nolay in southern France. This style of movement is called a "Morbier" and strikes a bell on the half hour, it is a double ringer on the hour, it strikes again a few minutes later in case you are not paying attention the first time. Our clockmaker has cleaned and oiled the mechanism, which is in fine working order. The porcelain dial is signed by the maker and has some damage and repair, see photo. It is surrounded by an embossed brass scene of a strolling couple, playing children and a dog. The hand made pine "pot belly" shape case still has the original hand grained and painted finish. Nolay is a small medieval city in the center of the Cote d'Or in Burgundy wine country, between the famous towns of Beaune and Autun in the south of France. This clock was made in the late 1800's, and measurements are 20" wide, 9" deep and 8'1" tall. V-C3977
