Primitive Chinese Country Antique Altar Table

This rustic primitive altar table was carved of solid ash hardwood in China and dates from the late 1800's. Rugged but simple country craftsmanship plus lots of wear and character make this true antique very picturesque. The old red and black lacquer is attractively worn, and has been polished to a subtle sheen on this hand planed furniture.

Used in a prosperous rural farmhouse for family and religious momentoes, this is an impressive table for myriad uses - sofa table, kitchen island, or server. The 2' thick top shows hand cut dovetailing and mortised tenon joinery. Measurements are 7' 7 1/2" long, 23" wide, and 33 1/2" tall.
