Hand made of wide pine boards and square nails about 1850, this Victorian jelly cupboard has a hand-dovetailed gallery and drawers. Solid and skillfully made, the warm honey finish is in excellent condition.
Bits of old paint are visible at the corners, and there are chips, burns and stains to show a century and a half of age. Hand-planed everywhere, the patina is beautiful on this antique furniture.
Heavy 1" shelves and a lock on the door secured the harvest jelly supply from hungry children until the next fall harvest season. Dimensions are 42" wide, 16" deep and 54" tall.
