Classical American Empire design is spendidly represented in this antique console table with a flip and swivel top that opens into a game table. Hand made about 1835 of mahogany, the matched flame grain top is stunning.
The rich reddish finish is excellent, and the fluted column pedestal is beautifully proportioned. Hand-cut dovetails are visible on the back, and there is a storage compartment under the lid for game pieces. The tops are cut from single planks of solid mahogany almost 17" wide, and this table is beautiful with the upper top raised and resting on the wall.
Outstanding antique furniture in very fine condition, there are only minor flaws at the the edges and on the base as would be expected of a 175 year old antique - see photos.
Size closed is 34" wide, 17" deep and 29 1/2" tall, open size is 34" square and 28 1/2" tall.
