Victorian Renaissance Walnut Secretary Desk, 1860

High Victorian design is embodied in this solid walnut hand-carved secretary desk from about 1860. The finish is excellent, and inside the work surface is saddle leather, and there are 4 tiny drawers with golden maple fronts. Especially stunning are the upper gallery and bookshelf - this is heroic American design of the period.

This antique furniture has hand-cut dovetails in all drawers, note a small chip near the keyhole. Measurements are 34" wide, 19" deep and 6' tall, the front of the writing surface when opened to the floor is 29."
