Classic antique furniture from New England about 1830, this handmade country settle or deacon's bench is solid and very usable. Hand-carved by a skilled country carpenter of pine, oak, hickory and poplar, there is wonderful warm patina and the finish is very fine.
Every spindle is slightly different from being hand-turned and there are numerous repairs, as would be expected over so many years. Said to be from Connecticut, every surface is irregular and shows hand crafting. Size is 46" wide, 23" deep, 33" tall and the seat is 15" high.
