Handmade in Pennsylvania about 1840, this small chest is actually a commode or washstand with a lift lid, often called a "bonnet box."
There is space inside for a bowl and pitcher. Below are drawers with chamfered bottoms and hand-cut dovetails. The top is solid mahogany, and drawer fronts have matched flame grain mahogany.
A rich, deep finish is excellent on this antique furniture, and size is 33" wide, 19" deep and 34" tall. D-B2123 |
