This sweet little Victorian 3 drawer chest was hand made about 1860. Classic American design from the Civil War period, this solid walnut commode has "race-track" moldings around the graduated drawer fronts plus a one-board top.
Drawers have hand-cut dovetails, and the original turned knobs are attached with threaded wooden screws. There is hole on the right hand side from where a towel bar pulled out in the days before plumbing - see photo. The back of this antique furniture is rough-sawn with square nails.
A rich deep brown finish is excellent, size is 30" wide, 16" deep, 35 1/2" tall including the removable backsplash, the top is 29" above the floor. Y-C1106 WEBO |
