Victorian Marquetry Oval Gateleg Game or Tea Table

Elegantly carved with intricate marquetry, this Victorian oval gateleg table was made for tea time or playing games. Solid walnut, the burled top is inlaid with delicate inlay of burl, satinwood and ebony. Hand-made about 1870, the finish is very fine.

In the beautifully grained quarter-matched burl top are touchups and repairs from over many years, as would be expected.

The frame is strong, and the top forms a true oval when opened. Size of this enchanting antique furniture is 36" long, 15" wide and 26 1/2" tall when closed, with the drop leaves raised, the top is 26 1/2" wide and 36" long.
