This hand-carved oak armour chest or trunk originally had three iron locks! One is missing, but the front lock still operates on this 1700's antique.
There are carved wooden pegs and hand-wrought iron hardware. Every surface is hand-hewn or planed on this rugged furniture. This beautiful chest could be used as a window bench, blanket chest, or at the foot of a bed.
The finish is very fine, and there is lots of character on this antique - stains mars and wear. There have been repairs and replacements over the centuries as would be expected. Size of this historic chest are 4 1/2' long, 22" deep and 29" tall.
