This Georgian Chippendale design secretary desk and bookcase from the 1930's has refined lines and exceptional workmanship.
Signed by noted maker of American traditional furniture, "Maddox of Jamestown, NY, the top has a well proportioned pediment and finial. Four feet are all carved ball and claw design, drawer fronts have serpentine or "ox bow" curves. Supports automatically extend under the drop front when opened, inside are "secret" drawers and cubicles.
The gleaming finish on mahogany is excellent with only minor mars at the edges. Lower drawers are dovetailed. The upper bookcase section has shelves with grooves to display plates on this American classic vintage furniture.
Size is 35" wide, 21" deep, 6' 10" tall and the writing surface is 29" high.
