This 1885 late Victorian or Eastlake period secretary desk has a bookcase top with glass doors, and is solid walnut. The finish is very good.
The drop front opens to rest on pull out supports, inside are small cubicles and a tiny drawer. Lower drawers have dovetailed sides. The bookcase section has shelves adjustable on wooden rests.
The left arched window pane is wavy and original, the right glass is a replacement. There have been various repairs and restorations on this American made furniture. Square nails are visible on the backside of this charming and functional antique.
The upper bookcase sections is a separate piece for easier moving. Measurements are 43" wide, 19" deep, 84" tall and the desk surface is 29" high.
