Hand carved of solid walnut about 1895, a stately dowry cabinet was also called a court cupboard. Expertly detailed motifs, moldings and shaped & raised panels are beautiful on this furniture hand crafted in eastern France.
The original finish is in very good condition with warm patina, it has been waxed and polished and needs only an occasional wipe with a dry cloth to maintain its luster. There are small mars at the edges for character, see photos. The lower left door has a warp, see photos.
The top of the base has been re-varnished for durability and stain resistance. Behind the serving or display area is a gallery. Upper side doors have hammered green stained glass panes. Cast brass hardware is original, drawers have solid oak sides joined with hand cut dovetails.
This historic and imposing cabinet separates for moving. Measurements are 56" wide, 22" deep, 95" tall and the base is 38" high.
