Hand made in New England about 1835, a wonderful solid cherry chest or dresser has curly or "birdseye" maple drawer fronts. The remarkable top and side panels are cut from single wide planks of cherry hardwood.
Graduated drawers have hand cut dovetails and chamfered bottoms. Square nails and hand planing marks are visible. Knobs vary, see photos, but most are still attached with original threaded wooden dowels.
The satiny finish is in excellent condition, there are stains and mars for antique character as shown. Classic American country furniture, this chest shows Empire influence.
Size is 44" wide, 21" deep, 47" tall and the top is 41" high.
