Hand carved of solid oak about 1885, this stately china cabinet was traditionally part of a bride's dowry.
Richly detailed panels are executed in high relief, columns are fluted and there are galleries. Brass hardware is original and drawers have hand cut dovetails on this furniture from northern France.
The top surface has been revarnished for durability and stain resistance. Otherwise, the original finish is very well preserved, freshly waxed and buffed - it needs only any occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth to maintain its antique patina. For character, there are a few mars, wormholes and stains, especially at the bottom. Also, doors and some columns have warps due to age, see photos.
This historic cabinet can be disassembled for moving. Measurements are 48" wide, 22" deep, 8' tall to the top of the removable upper gallery, the center surface is 39" high.
