A classic East Coast American Empire period sofa from about 1825 is in remarkable condition, and has been newly upholstered in authentic charcoal on black fabric with bolster cushions.
Hand carved of solid mahogany with matched flame grain panels, there are traditional lion paw feet and acanthus leaf details. Various repairs from over the years are visible and there is a toe missing on the left rear foot, see close up photos.
The frame is strong and tight on this usable and durable furniture, and the old finish is in very fine condition with warm antique patina.
Measurements of this sophisticated front parlor piece are 7' 8" long, 24" deep, 31" tall and the seat is 19" high.
