Inspired by the Japanese design craze of the day, this 1880 era washstand is bamboo inlaid with ceramic tiles and could be a bar, server or vessel sink vanity.
The finish is very well preserved with warm antique patina. Waxed and polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its luster.
Entirely original with brass pulls, a beveled swivel mirror and drawers with hand cut dovetail joints, this furniture has woven rattan panels. The lovely tiles have crazing and stains, see photos.
President Benjamin Harrison had similar furniture in the White House.
Size of this American made stand is 42" wide including towel bars, 19" deep, 38" tall and the base is 33" high.
The matching piece in photos is priced and sold separately, call or email for availability.
