Signed "H. Troemner, Philadelphia," a Victorian walnut and marble balance scale dates from about 1880. Used for candy or other small articles, this authentic American antique still works, it would have been used with a separate set of weights.
Henry Troemner was a prominent scale maker, and this example is in very fine condition. The solid walnut base supports a marble top that has minor chips and has been polished and sealed to resist stains, solid brass pans are signed and removable. Behind a glass porthole in the the front are pointers that indicate balance. Size is 19" long, 9" deep and 9" tall.
