A sleek Midcentury Modern cocktail or coffee table is attributed to designer "Lucia Mercer" for famous maker, "Knoll." The oval 3/4" thick glass top has minor scratches and a significant chip as shown. The chip can be hidden under the chrome clip by turning the glass top slightly off center on one side. The heavy marble base of this dramatic vintage furniture is unsigned.
Trained as a landscape architect at Cornell University, Lucia Mercer studied in the Soviet Union, then in 1979 had an internship at Cold Spring Granite in New York state, influencing her designs. This unsigned piece is characteristic of her work for the 1982 Knoll collection.
Measurements are 51" long, 39 1/2" wide and 17 1/2" tall.
