The three dimensional angels and lion paws are spectacular on this "Savonarola" chair from Italy, hand carved of solid oak about 1890.
The details are truly remarkable, there is a lion head on the seat, even the back is carved on this extraordinary antique furniture.
Named after the fiery Renaissance monk of Florence, this traditional armchair has had various restorations over the years. The original finish is very well preserved. Waxed and polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina.
Measurements are 29" wide, 22" deep, 40" tall and the seat is 19" high. See 26 photos on Harp Gallery website that enlarge to full screen size.
