Signed "J. Bauer Co,, NY," this 1870 era melodeon is an early version of the pump or reed organ. When we play it, every note works, and the "swell" lever is knee operated, increasing the volume. Foot pedals have old hand stitched needlepoint.
The solid walnut case has a beautiful finish on this American made antique musical instrument. The back is finished and has exposed hand cut dovetail joints.
Dimensions are 38" wide, 26" deep and 32" tall when the covers are closed,forming a console table.
