Hand crafted about 1860, this sofa was made in Holland, shipped to the Dutch East Indies, where local artisans added the thousands of tiny pieces of intricate inlaid marquetry, and then returned to Europe for upholstering.
The finish is in excellent condition, preserving a few restorations and mars for antique character. Mahogany and golden satinwood have beautiful grain.
Springs are comfortable and the back is quite firm, as is typical of these Empire design sofas.
Newly upholstered, measurements are 7' long, 28" deep, 35" tall and the seat is 16" high.
