Signed "J.S. Ford Johnson Co., Chicago," this 1900 swivel desk chair is solid quarter sawn oak with an excellent finish. The original cast iron mechanism swivels and tilts but has a noticeable wiggle. It is solid and durable, adjustable up and down.
There are shrinkage separations from age in the sculpted seat, see photos. The scrolled back is beautiful, curved lumbar spindles are comfortable. Later ball bearing wheels roll smoothly on this American made antique office or library furniture.
Measurements are 23" wide, 25" deep, 43" tall and the seat is 18" high in photos, adjustable upward from that point.
