A stately secretary desk with a bookcase top was hand carved about 1860 during the Victorian Renaissance period. Walnuts with leaves and crests plus classical motifs are three dimensional on this American made furniture.
The finish is in very fine condition with warm antique patina plus a few mars at the edges for antique character. Dramatic ebony and cast brass drop pulls are original. The pull out desk front is slightly warped, see photos.
Inside is a striped inlaid border surrounding a saddle leather writing surface. The locking bookcase has original wavy glass doors and shelves that adjust on wooden supports, it is a separate piece for easier moving.
Measurements are 50" wide, 20" deep and 90" tall, the desk top is 30" high.
