A wonderful patented "8/97" Swiss music box plays 8 different tunes, and has switchable drums, bells and a Zither voice.
The ebonized case is inlaid with mahogany. This Victorian musical instrument was rebuilt in 1964 by famed experts, "Bornand Music Box Co. in Pelham, NY.," see receipt.
The jeweled movement plays beautifully. Levers control start/stop and change/repeat of tunes, listed on the original card. The mechanism is wound by the large lever at the left.
This antique was an engagement present, custom made with a fiance's favorite melodies, see list.
Measurements are 24" wide, 10" deep and 9" tall.
