An armoire, wardrobe or closet was hand crafted in France about 1850, and is a bargain because it is well worn, with a later interior painted cabinet.
Fruitwood with inlaid kingwood and ebony banding, the old finish is well preserved with warm patina on this European antique furniture. However, there are numerous dings, losses at the edges, shrinkage separations and warps from age, see photos.
The brass lift off hinges, wrought iron latches and working giant iron lock are original.
Around 60 years ago, a separate interior cabinet with adjustable shelves and drawers was installed, loosely nailed in and painted yellow.
Measurements are 52" wide, 22" deep and 75" tall.
