A lovely American Empire sofa dates from around 1825, and is solid mahogany with hand carved classical lion paws and "cornucopia" or horns of plenty. Panels are matched flame grain or crotch mahogany.
The finish is in very fine condition, the frame has been reglued to be strong and sturdy for another generation. Round bolster pillows are authentic. The upholstery is not worn but has not been cleaned, and the seat is authentic, and is very lightly padded and not comfortable. This historic antique furniture could be padded and upholstered as desired. Brass wheels are removable.
Measurements are 95" long, 37" tall, 25" deep and the seat is 18" high.
