Hand crafted of solid maple in the 1890's, this very substantial primitive six drawer chest was probably used as a file cabinet.
The finish is in excellent condition with warm patina, preserving shrinkage separations from age, losses and stains for character. There is some "birdseye" or curly grain. Embossed cast bronze pulls are original on this American made furniture.
Drawer interior measurements are 13 1/2" wide, 20" deep and 11 1/2" high so standard files do fit. Overall dimensions are 39" wide, 25" deep and 49" tall.
