A spectacular Georgian design highboy or chest on chest was hand carved about 1876, celebrating the "Centennial" period of American independence.
Solid mahogany was sculpted by a master carver with authentic feet, flame finial and shell motifs. The original finish is very well preserved with warm antique patina. Waxed and polished, all that is needed to maintain its luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
There are various shrinkage separations from age, see photos. Drawers have hand cut tiny dovetail joints on solid oak sides. Heavy filigree brasses are original. Two separate pieces for easier moving, square nail heads are visible on this historic commemorative chest.
Measurements are 48" wide, 24" deep and 7' 1" tall.
