This tea poy or caddy from the English Regency period about 1820 could be a jewelry box as well. The traditional shape follows a design from Greek antiquity.
Mahogany with a fine old hand rubbed finish, there are losses at the edges, see photos. Interior dividers are removable, there is no key for the lock.
Bronze feet and lion head handles appear original on this antique table top furniture, from the days when tea was very expensive.
Size is 16 1/2" wide, 9 1/2" deep and 9" tall.
