This magnificent dining table was carved of solid mahogany about 1880 in the English Regency manner. The gleaming deep finish is in excellent condition on shimmering grain.
Five 18 1/2" wide original leaves have matching skirts or aprons. A winding crank operates a giant hidden screw shaft that snugs the table together, with or without leaves. The wrought iron crank and brass wheels are original. Because the table has a sag from age when extended, a later center leg can be set under the slides to keep the table level, see photos.
Opulent artistic carving is exquisite on this classical antique furniture from England.
Dimensions when closed are 5' across, 30" tall, legroom is 25" underneath and length is 70," with all five leaves in place, length is 13 1/2' overall
