Hand crafted of solid cherry in Pennsylvania about 1840, this charming primitive secretary desk has been restored to serve another generation. The gleaming finish preserves just enough mars and stains for a little antique character.
Upper doors have carved pegs at the joints and chamfered or reverse raised panels. There are shrinkage separations from age, see photos.
The drop front rests on pull out supports, the key is a handle only, the lock does not work. Inside is a locking compartment and cubicles for papers. The large drawer has hand cut dovetail joints, the upper section is separate for easier moving.
Size is 37" wide at the crown, 22" deep, 67 1/2" tall and the desktop is 30" high.
