Expertly hand carved of walnut, a French armoire dates from about 1890 and has an original shaped and beveled mirror door. The original deep finish is extremely well preserved, waxed and buffed so that all it needs to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
There is a little "smoke" to the mirror to show its age. Because of the weight of the door, this armoire must be anchored to the wall to prevent tipping when the door is opened.
The interior is empty except for a drawer at the bottom, there are saw tooth corners where shelves could be fitted, or a closet pole could be installed if desired. Interior depth is 14."
The double throw lock works with a little push to close. This opulent antique furniture can be disassembled for easier moving.
Measurements are 44" wide at the crown, 22" deep and 8' tall.
