Hand carved in France of solid fine grained oak about 1910, a traditional sideboard or pewter cupboard has folk motifs and raised shaped panels.
The top of the base is revarnished for durability, the rest of the original finish is very well preserved. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain its luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Brass hardware is original, locks and keys work on this European antique furniture.
Traditionally part of a young woman's dowry, it would have held her linens, china and pewter. Drawers have solid oak sides with hand cut dovetail joints. The upper gallery section is removable for easier delivery.
Size is 59" wide, 21" deep, 75" tall and the base is 38" high.
