A magnificently hand carved solid oak "Black Forest" cabinet from the 1880's is from the Alpine region where Germany, Switzerland and France meet. Three dimensional sculptures of lions, birds and grapevine handles show masterful artistry.
The top of the base has been revarnished for durability, the rest of the original finish is extremely well preserved and has been waxed and buffed. All that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Interior shelves adjust on wooden supports. The upper door has a marvelous shaped and beveled pane and a working lock. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints, columns are fluted. The upper section of this antique furniture is removable for easier delivery.
Measurements are 42" wide, 23" deep, 7' 9 1/2" tall and the base is 39 1/2" high.
