This simple country armoire or wardrobe was crafted in Pennsylvania about 1850 from wide planks of solid walnut. Very solid and ruggedly built, there is a large drawer in the base with hand dovetailed sides. The hand chamfered bottom, is held together with square nails. Inside are dividers that are original, but could be removed. The door panels are also solid walnut, and the deep brown finish is in very good condition. There is a warped door see photos.
There are mars and "character" from 150 years of use, especially on the side panels, see photos. Simple honest Yankee design is exceptional on this beautiful antique furniture armoire. Size is 4'5" wide, 21" deep and 7'2" tall. Q-A484
