Hand carved of solid cherrywood during the 1830's, the splendid acanthus leaf and paw foot motifs were beautifully executed during the American Empire period. Said to originate in New York state, this chest is entirely hand made with hand dovetailed and chamfered drawers, and is hand planed everywhere.
The rich satiny finish is excellent, and this is very prestigious piece of antique furniture. Proportions and detailing are superior, with only minor mars at the edges. Dimensions are 44" wide, 22" deep, 54" tall, the top is 46" above the floor. Q-D1549
