Hand carved of solid rosewood during the Civil War period, about 1865, this style of chair was often called "Sleepy Hollow". Very comfortable for the Victorian era, the springs are soft. The upholstery is recent and in excellent condition.
The gleaming finish on the carved rosewood is in excellent condition. The frame is very solid, although there are shrinkage separations at the joints, see photos. This enchanting chair has graceful curves, lifelike flowers and, and size is 27" wide, 33" deep and 39" tall, the seat is 15" tall. R-C2839
