This magnificent French hand carved rosewood bedroom set dates from about 1895, and includes a bed, a rouge marble nightstand, and a splendid armoire with 2 mirrored doors. The original finish has been polished to a gleaming patina.
This antique furniture shows unrivaled quality and meticulous workmanship everywhere. The rococo crests have very high relief, the panels are all quarter matched, drawers are hand dovetailed, even the rear legs are carved. The rosewood has a sublime delicate grain and color, is extremely hard, and has a silken finish.
The bed will accommodate a standard full or double extra long (queen length) between the original carved rails. However, we have adapted this to also work with standard queen size steel rails as shown in the photograph. Headboard size is 5' wide, 5'4" tall, the footboard is 5'2" wide, and 38" tall.
The bedside table has a rouge marble top and is lined in white marble. Dimensions are 16" x 16" and 34" tall.
The armoire is simply spectacular - curved sides, shaped and beveled mirror doors, and an extraordinary carved crest at the top. The interior is mahogany with adjustable wooden shelves, and the inside of the doors is birdseye maple. Size is 4'9" wide, 22" deep and 8'4" tall. There are only minor mars at the edges, plus a dent on the right side of the armoire, see photo - this set is as good as they come. T-B1943
