Rosewood & Pearl Dressing Table & Sewing Stand

This is one of the most spectacular Victorian dressing table and sewing stands we have ever come across. Rosewood is inlaid with thousands of pieces of hand engraved mother of pearl, and there is also silver or pewter inlay.
Inside are compartments, pincushion, scent and ink bottles, pen rest, sewing accessories, even needles and a cut glass tumbler (with a chip). Some of these have probably been replaced, but all are charming. The original finish is in amazing condition.
There is a warp to the octagonal base - see photo, and everything is sturdy. Extraordinary artistry is shown in this historic piece dating from about 1870. Measurements are 22" wide, 18" deep and 32" tall. U-S1572
