A brilliant example of American Empire design from about 1830 this game or card table has a flip and swivel top. The acanthus carved pedestal surmounts paw feet, and the halves of the top are each cut from single planks of solid mahogany almost 18" wide. The top is faced in flame grain mahogany with banding.
There are small flaws at the edges and around the curved apron, there is a shrinkage separation in the top when opened - see photos. The satin finish is excellent, and this authentic antique furniture is substantial and usable. Inside is a storage compartment. Measurements closed are 3' long, 18" wide and 28" tall, open the table is 3' square and 27" tall.
