Unrivaled Provincial furniture from about 1895, the high relief carving and gracefully arched top are spectacular.
A cut above the typical Country French armoire, this hand carved solid oak antique has magnificent detail and a shaped beveled mirror in the door.
The original finish is burnished to a warm medium honey tone, and this armoire can be disassembled for moving.
The door is very heavy, the back should be anchored to the wall for stability. To close the door, the handle must be lifted a fraction of an inch into position. There is just enough smoke on the plate glass mirror to show its age. Inside is a drawer and adjustable wooden shelves, the paneled back is pegged solid oak as well. Dimensions are 4' wide, 22" deep and 7'10" tall.
