This unrivaled "Waterfall" design Art Deco retro set dates from the late 1930's. All three pieces have radiant shimmering tiger maple, golden mahogany and intricate marquetry with zebra wood decoration. The set includes a tall chest, dresser with beveled mirror, and bed adapted to standard queen size. The warm honey finish is excellent everywhere, bakelite and embossed metal hardware is original, and there is loads of storage in the large dovetailed drawers of this sensational vintage set.
"Waterfall" furniture gets its name from the grain on the tops going from the back to the front, and then curving downward like falling water.
The tall chest measures 33" wide, 20" deep and 57" tall. The dresser has an etched and beveled mirror, there are small flaws in the silvering at the bottom edges - see photos. Size is 47" wide, 22" deep and 6'1" tall. Adapted for queen size with modern steel side rails, the bed is 57" wide, the headboard is 40" tall, the footboard 22" tall. V-B1984 This item has sold.
