A wonderful Scottish tall case or grandfather clock is signed "Alex. Nimmo, Linlithgow" on the hand engraved dial. A hand painted clipper ship rocks at the top with each "tick" of this prestigious antique clock. The 8 day movement is cleaned and oiled, and strikes the hour.
Birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots, the village of Linlithgow is 20 miles west of Edinburgh. The authentic movement dates from about 1825, and the mahogany case is Victorian from about 1890. The original finish is very well preserved, with just a few mars for character. Columns with Corinthian bronze capitals frame the dial. Hand cut iron hands appear original, and dimensions are 21" wide, 10" deep and 7'5" tall. V-C4000
