This matched library set includes a triple bookcase with stained glass and wrought iron grill doors plus a desk and armchair. Carved about 1900 in walnut and fruitwood this antique furniture is in very fine condition. The rich brown finish is in excellent condition, all pieces are completely solid and substantial. This wonderful set was originally made for a library in the Tuscany region of Italy.
Three doors on the bookcase have hammered amethyst stained glass behind hand wrought iron filigree grillwork. Inside are shelves (some warped, see photos) on adjustable wooden supports. Interior depth is 19," ideal for larger volumes. Traditional Renaissance motifs are carved into the classical bookcase, measuring 5'3" wide, 23" deep and 6'10" tall.
The writing desk with paw feet has 2 drawers with hand cut dovetails and locks, size is 4'7" long, 32" wide, 32" tall, and legroom is 25" high. Upholstery on the arm chair is faux leather, possibly original, size is 24" wide, 21" deep and 43" tall. W-L392 This item has sold.
