Dutch Kas Carved Oak Cabinet or Dowry Cupboard

    This Dutch dowry cabinet typically descends with a family's daughter, and shelves and drawers would have held a bride's linens, pewter and silver. This cupboard is deeply hand carved in solid oak with lion heads, columns and ebony inlay from Dutch East India.

An especially lavish Kas, the finish is original from about 1900 and is in excellent condition. As a prized heirloom furniture, the workmanship is exemplary. The upper section of this grand antique is separate for easier moving. Doors are secured with heavy iron locks. Size is 5'5" wide, 27" deep and 6'4 1/2" tall. W-A512
