Solid mahogany with gorgeous shimmering grain, this dropleaf or Pembroke table was made about 1840. The deeply turned legs show Sheraton influence, and the top and leaves are single planks of glowing mahogany.
The polished finish is excellent, solid brass ferrules and wheels are original. Undersides show hand planing. At one end is an invisible "secret" drawer that is hand dovetailed, part of the chamfered bottom has been replaced.
Sturdy and totally usable antique furniture, measurements are 36" across, 29" tall and 19" wide with the dropleaves down, with both raised, width is 35." X-T5585 This item has sold.
