This large tall chest or dresser is from the American Arts and Crafts or Mission Oak period about 1900. The exterior is solid ash and oak, and the interior of the drawers are solid cedar to protect against moths.
This is not a factory piece, it is hand made furniture, presumably one of a kind. The deep brown finish is excellent, and the two doors on the front are book matched ash burl. These panels, the backside and drawer bottoms are all hand chamfered, and drawers are hand-dovetailed - all this historic hand work is typical of furniture from an earlier generation.
Everything fits well on this very wonderful antique, measurements are 47" wide, 21" deep and 57" tall. X-D1656 This item has sold.
